History Experience Kits - Free Museum Passes

Begins June 1, 2026 

Explore history with our Experience Kits.

Each kit includes admission for 4 people to visit ten local museums and historical sites in southwest Pennsylvania.

  • Kits check out for one week at a time.
  • Kits must be requested in person or over the phone from participating libraries.
  • Kits must be checked out and returned to their home library.

This program is coordinated through the Heinz History Center Affiliates Program (HHCAP) and managed by The Aliquippa Library District (ALD).

2026 Experience Locations: 



  • Heinz History Center: Voted America’s #1 History Museum! Learn about Western PA history & heritage on six fascinating floors of interactive exhibits with  a wide range of events.
  • Meadowcroft Rockshelter & Historic Village: Tour 500 years of Washington County history and natural environment. Discover ancient times and rural life.
  • Fort Pitt Musuem: Explore Pittsburgh's key role in shaping the nation during the French and Indian War and the American Revolution War.
  • Gibson House Manor: Jamestown's crossroads location made Gibson House a key Underground Railroad safe haven. This manor also welcomed Mark Twain as a frequent guest during his travels.
  • Historic Fort Steuben: Step back to 1787 and onto the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. Tour soldiers' quarters, a hospital, herb garden, and more, depicting frontier life.
  • Lincoln Highway Experience:  Explore 100+ years of the Lincoln Highway in PA’s Laurel Highlands. The US's largest museum for the first transcontinental road features a 1930s diner and cars.
  • Beaver Area Heritage Musuem: Founded in 1967, the award winning Beaver Area Heritage Musuem preserves the rich history of Beaver, Bridgewater, Brighton and Vanport. Visit the station and museum to explore local heritage.
  • McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center:The McKeesport Heritage Center preserves Mon Valley history with its 1832 schoolhouse, industrial displays, and 1930's-era rooms. Discover local sports, military honors and George Washington's legacy. 
  • Bradford House & Whiskey RebellionDisover the unique history of the Whiskey Rebellion and David Bradford in Washington County. Explore the 18th-centruy Exhibits, featuring an authentic cage car and a whiskey still display. 
  • Old Economy Village:A National Historic Landmark in Ambridge, Old Economy features 17 historic buildings and gardens. It preserves the 19th-century utopian legacy and communal life of the Harmony Society. Note: Old Economy Village is not affiliated with HHCAP.
